Hanging out with the Yankees

June 22nd, 2008 by Robert

Another picture of the cutest kid in the world.Zaiden was eager to make his way to Yankee Stadium.  We all took the subway.  It was a quick 15 minute trip to the Bronx.  The only problem is the subway is not very stroller friendly.  Mom carried Zaiden, dad carried the stroller up and down the stairs.  Upon arrival mom found the perfect t-shirt “My First Yankee T-Shirt”.  We all had lunch at a deli just outside the stadium.  It was an awesome sight to see the original stadium and the new stadium just accross the street.  Zaiden got a prize (baseball cards) when he entered the stadium.  A quick walk up and then down the ramp (did I say quick) to find our seats.  They were along 3rd base line on the main level just under the overhang.  It was good because at the 6th inning it started to rain.  After about an hour the grounds crew was back out to get the game going.  These guys are really talented.  When they were getting the field ready the YMCA song came on and they proceeded to do the dance.  It was hilarious.  Here’s a picture of how excited Zaiden was to be at his first game.

Vacation in New York

June 21st, 2008 by Robert

Today was very long.  Zaiden started off strong.  We all took a train into Penn Station.  Upon arrival we found ourselves outside Madison Square Garden.  Two things were very noticiable.  There are too many people in NY and 2nd it doesn’t smell that great.  Anyway, we made our way to the taxi stand and 15 minutes later we were standing outside our hotel at 10th & 49th.   Zaiden was very eager to go and explore.  However the who family was starving.  A quick walk to McDonalds (yes we are in NY and eating McDonalds) and the entire family found themselves people watching as we ate.  The people here in NY are very strange.

Zaiden catches a quick nap during the shopping spree in NY.We next found ourselves headed to Canal Street to do some shopping.  Daddy had stroller duty as mom and sister did the bargain shopping.  Zaiden was already tired.  This first picture shows how he dealt with the hustle and bustle of the city.  This boy can sleep through anything.

It was almost dinner time so we decided to bring our pirates bounty back to the hotel.  Next we decided to get some chinese food.  We were directed to a restaurant and 49th & Broadway.  The food was ok but very expensive.  Everybody in the restaurant was falling in love with Zaiden.  He was a little cranky because it was 30 minutes past dinner time.  Mom quicky started the steady flow of Green Beans.  We got to get some video evidence because this kid loves every vegetable we give him.  We’ll use it later when he says he hates vegtables.

Here\'s a milestone. Zaiden swimming in the pool. After dinner we headed back to the hotel.  We rode the elevator to the PH (Pent House) level.  No we’re not that rich.  That’s the floor were you can find the pool.  Check out the awesome picture of Zaiden and dad swimming.

Window Seat Please

June 21st, 2008 by Robert

Ready for take off.Real quick before we got in trouble we grabbed an opportunity for a photo.  Here’s Zaiden with a window seat on his first plane ride.  The plane was only delayed for an hour and 15 minutes.  Zaiden had already had his dinner.  We waited on the tarmac for 15 minutes which was just long enough for Zaiden to fall asleep.  He slept most of the way.  The plane was 100% full.  The plane also had two other babies on board.  I bet the rest of the passengers thought it was going to be rough ride.  Zaiden was a real trooper.  He only got fussy once because he woke up and was not in his own bed.  We got lucky.  The airlines lost the car seats for the other two families.  They were sent to Cleveland.  Of course with Zaiden’s good luck our stroller arrived safe and sound.  Keep checking back for more updates.  We are currently on the train to Penn Station.  We should be there in 30 minutes.  We are all excited to see the Big Apple.  Zaiden loves everyone.

Hanging out with the Blues Brothers in Chi-TownSinging the blues with Jake and ElwoodWhile waiting for the plane Zaiden decided to hang out with super cool friends from Chicago.  The Blues Brothers were quick to take a picture with Zaiden.  This was Zaiden’s first airplane ride.  He has been on a train to see his Grandma in Iowa.  He’s so excited.  You can definately see it in his face.   More to come.  Keep coming back to find out what happens next on Zaidens first vacation.

Under the weather

June 18th, 2008 by Robert

Zaiden had a rough night.  He was really congested and didn’t sleep more than an hour before he woke up and cried.  Mom and dad tried everything but were unable to help.  This morning we went back to visit Dr. Sam where he listened to his lungs and gave us some medicine to help Zaiden when he’s coughing.I think the boy is teething...

The rest of the day Zaiden spent resting.  He slept a few times and dad was able to catch up on a few chores before the family vacation.  Zaiden and dad also went on a short walk with Copa (the family dog).  It’s really tough taking care of Zaiden all by myself.  Mom really deserves more credit than she gets.

Here is another picture from Mom’s father’s day gift.  The boy is real limber.

1st Father’s Day

June 17th, 2008 by Robert

Zaiden shows his softer side and tells dad just how much he loves him.

Sorry for the late update.  The whole family has been busy.   Sister just finished her Junior year, Mom is working summer hours to get an extra day off.  This requires her to get up at 4am.  Wow that’s early.   Dad has been working a lot the last couple of weeks because his partner at work was on vacation.

Anyway, mom and sister did something really special.  Mom used one of her extra days off to go get pictures taken.  I’m going to get the gallery up and running real soon.   However I thought I would give you all a sample of just how cute Zaiden is.

We all really lucked out.  This baby is a keeper.

Ladies and Gentlemen…. We have a new record!!!!!

June 17th, 2008 by Robert

Today Zaiden visited his favorite Dr. Sam @ Loyola.  Everything checked out good.  Zaiden has a bit of a cough.  Mom and dad were worried with our vacation just around the corner.  We didn’t want Zaiden to be miserable during his first vacation.

The good part is Zaiden is almost 6 months old.  This Sunday is his actual 1/2 birthday.  During the Dr visit today Zaiden top the scales at 21 lbs 9 oz.  His length was also an impressive 29 1/4 inches.  The doctor says he is in the upper 95th percentile.  Mom and dad hope their young prodigy goes in the first round of the draft.   This will definately help the 401k plan.

Just kidding, we hope the young lad is smart, acertive, and eager to achive all his goals.  Is it too you to be talking about life goals?  How about we set out small and have Zaiden master sitting up by himself.

Zaidens Favorite color is not red

June 4th, 2008 by Robert

This morning Zaiden decided he didn’t like the red shirt dad had ironed the night before.  10 minutes before we were going to leave Zaiden gave his opinion in the form of puke.  It’s funny how none of it got on him or his bib.  All of it went down dad’s shirt side.  Anyway, a quick iron of a peach shirt and we were on our way.  Either Zaiden likes peach or the spit up factory was running low.  After mom and dad got home from work the family went on a field trip.  The purpose was to get Zaiden a present.  Because of his good behavior he was rewarded with a big boy’s car seat.   He was really pushing the capacity on that baby carrier seat.  That’s ok we’ll save it for future use.  A quick trip to Babies R’ Us turned into a 20 minute demonstration by the sales guy.  It was really good because he knew why not to spend 300 bucks or 100 bucks but comfortably right in the middle.  A last chance coupon saved Zaiden 15% (got to love those baby coupons) and we were on our way home.  We’ll put the savings in his college fund.  Probably need to start that fund.  The sooner the better.  Nana did give us his first piggy bank (which is really in the shape of a pig).  It’s almost full and we only had to steal a couple of dollars in quarters for laundry.  Other news, mom had a rough afternoon feeding.  It seems Zaiden expressed his feelings about peas all over mom’s shirt.  Either this kid has a lot to say or he just hates clean shirts.   It’s almost time for bed.  Good night everyone and remember Zaiden loves you.

Loving the water

June 3rd, 2008 by Robert

I think he\'s going to be a swimmer.Lately Zaiden has been taking a shower with dad. Mom helps out because he’s one slippery baby. Mom also avoids having to bend over in the bath. The boy definitely loves water. I can wait until we can take him swimming. Mom says we have to wait until he is at least 1 year old. Otherwise he’ll swallow to much water. I convinced her to let me take him as long as his head doesn’t go under. Anyway we only have 17 more days till our vacation. I can’t speak for Zaiden, but the rest of the family is excited. Mom takes credit for this photo. Dad was in the picture, but I ‘photoshopped’ myself out. Zaiden is the star of this site not dad. I also got rid of soap dispenser on the wall. Can you tell where I made the corrections. I hope the rest of the family is doing well. Zaiden loves everyone.

New Friends

June 2nd, 2008 by Robert

A 5 year old holding a 5 month old.Zaiden attended a graduation party over the weekend where he got to do his one of his favorite past times; people watch.  Zaiden loves to just watch people having conversations.  He did meet a lot of new people.  Here is a picture with KC.  Zaiden looks a little scared but trust me he was having fun.  It’s hard to get two boys to pose together and both look at the camera for a picture.
