Straight From Iowa

August 29th, 2008 by Robert

Mom and Zaiden braved the traffic on a holiday weekend to make it to the train station.  No they were not departing to some far off land.  Nor were they going to travel the rails like the hobo’s of the 1920′s.  They were there to pick up 3 lost souls from Iowa.  Grandma, Aunt Cindy, and cousin Blaze toughed it out on a packed Amtrak train 4 plus hours to make it to Zaiden’s hometown.  After many hugs and kisses it was off to home so the trio could beat sister Sierra home.  Sierra had no clue we were going to have visitors.  Dad was at work so he wasn’t here to see the excitment.  I was told the gang of pranksters hid in the bathroom only to jump out and surprise Sierra.  Well after the initial joke everyone calmed down.  It was requested that Dad bring home White Castles for dinner.  Apparently, White Castle is a myth west of the Mississippi river.  Everyone gobbled up a crave case.  Cousin Blaze made a tribute tower out of empty castle boxes.  He proudly claimed 5 burgers from the case.  Later that night he tried to blame what I call the “Residual Effect” on the dog.

It’s late here and everyone is just about in bed.  The 3 day weekend should be exciting.  No big plans are expected.  There will be a lot of relaxing over the next couple of days.  Goodnight all.

Faster than the speed of light!

The last couple of days dad has been working with the video camera.  It was a great investment however we don’t use it that often.  That’s going to change.  Now that Zaiden is learning new things everyday it’s important to have the battery charged and ready to go.  I often wonder what he will think when he’s older and looks back at his site.  Will he be embarased?  Will he hate me?  Will he delete it?  Don’t worry, I have a backup.  Well here is the next installment of video.  Dad has been working with new video editing software so every new video should show improvement.  Maybe one day some big Hollywood Exec comes across this site and Dad’s the next Martin Scorsese.  Actually I think I have a better chance winning the lottery.  I hope everyone loves this clip.  It took me over an hour to produce.  Yes, I’m waiting for someone to say “Thank You”

Just another day in the life

August 28th, 2008 by Robert

The last couple days Zaiden has been waking up during the night.  Mom thinks it’s because his teeth are bothering him.  Eight months old and not one single tooth.  I’ve been told the longer it takes for them to sprout the better the teeth.  Anyway mom is very tired from those late night episodes.  Mom is also a little mad at me because it take me exactly 2 seconds to go back to sleep.  It takes her quite a bit long.  Sorry it’s just in my DNA, the head hits the pillow, the eyes close and the snoring begins.  Sorry mom.  Maybe this weekend I will make it up to her and let her sleep in.

Well this is Zaiden’s first long weekend.  I guess it really doesn’t matter to him.  It’s not like he’s working 50 hours at the office.  It’s real important to Mom & Dad because we get to spend a whole extra day with this extraordinary kid.  He’s a little video of Zaiden and the new baby sitter.

He can stand on his own!!

Well for a little bit.  Here is a small snippet of video showing how Zaiden is almost ready to run.  Those little legs are strong.  Ask mom, he gives her a kick in the belly everytime she changes him on the bed.  As you can see, he’s got the stationary part down.  Now he just needs to work on his footwork.  Don’t worry Dad has quick hands and was just off camera.

Schools back in session

August 27th, 2008 by Robert

Even though Zaiden is too young for school some of his friends and of course his sister must return to school today. Today is an important day for Sierra and Becca. This year Sierra is a SENIOR and we all hope she mixes a little bit of fun with a whole lot of success. It’s another important day for Becca. Today is her last first day at North Elementry School. Wow their growing up fast. And for Steven, well he’s a junior so his day is just around the corner. Anyway he’s too cool for pictures anyway. Good luck kids and try to mix fun with studying.

Important Milestone

August 26th, 2008 by Robert

This is a late notification, however our son crossed another important milestone.  Last week Zaiden went to the Bears game.  Although it was only preseason, Zaiden was optimistic that we’ll have a good year.  Everyone in the crowd commented that he’s a future bear.  Unfortunately the Bears lost to the 49′ers 30-37.  Zaiden took the loss in stride and commented the offense looked good, it was the defense who couldn’t stop the pass.  All in all it was a good night.  Our seats for the season are excellent (as you can see from the picture below).  Everyone can thank sister Sierra for the excellent photography work.  The official season starts on Sept. 7th at Indy.  Zaiden has deemed this game the “Superbowl Rematch”.  Then it’s one more week away against the Panthers.  But then on Sept. 21 (just before Dad’s B-day) it’s Game Day.  Home opener against the Bucs.  Zaiden will be there wearing his blue and orange, cheering for his team.

Zaiden\'s first Bears game. Here he is all decked out in his blue & orange.  Nice view from our seats in the North Endzone.

Oh No, He’s Mobile

Well today was an important milestone.  Dad was in the kitchen and mom yelled, YOUR SON IS CRAWLING.  I cam running with the video camera in had.  No we didn’t catch the first steps, but click the file below to see some of the action.

Long time without an update.

August 19th, 2008 by Robert

Sorry for all you loyal vistors. Dad dropped the ball. It’s been almost a month since my last update. Time slips by and unfortunately I’ve been very busy. Well were do we begin. The NY / Orlando trip was awesome. A special thank you goes out to Jackie and Barry for letting us stay at the Broscious Inn. The entire family had a wonderful time. I think we are already booked for next year. That will be awesome considering Zaiden will be 1 1/2 years old. Look out Mickey, Zaiden is coming summer of 2009.

In other news, sorry for the lack of pictures. Sister’s camera is broken. We have to send it off to get repaired. I have a couple of great pictures with all the uncles, aunt nina, cousins, nana & papa. I will try and get a few posted.

The family recently did a mini vacation to Wisconsin Dells. Zaiden had a blast in the pool. The rest of the family used uncle Michael’s Jet Ski on the lake. Mom calls it luxury camping. To be honest it was a cool single wide trailor with a porch, shower, two bed rooms, A/C, eat-in kitchen and a pullout couch. I guess there was a fire pit so let’s call it camping.
Early one Saturday morning mom caught these two rolling around on the floor.
This thursday there is a very big milestone for Zaiden. I don’t want to give too much away. Stay tune for some pictures. I promise I will do a better job of keeping up with the website.

Here is a recent picture. I think it’s only a couple of weeks old. You can see that Zaiden is doing a good job sitting on his own. As aways Copa is very gentle. Zaiden is so excited to see his dog, however Copa mostly ignores him. Mom captured this shot early one Saturday morning. As you can see both Copa and Zaiden are a perfect match. They both love the camera.

Come back for more updates.
